Highlights
The headline CPI showed an increase of 0.3 percent from June quarter 2021 to September quarter 2021.
The headline CPI also showed an increase of 4.3 percent from September quarter 2020 to September quarter 2021.
Facts
The major contributors to the increase in the September Quarter were Household Equipment Group, Recreation Group, Transport Group and Housing Group.
Household Equipment Group (+2.2%)
The Household Equipment Group Index increased by 2.2 percent in this quarter mainly due to the increase in prices of Household Appliances (+3.7%).
Recreation Group (+2.2%)
The Recreation Group Index increased by 2.2 percent this quarter showing an increase in Lae (8.9%), Port Moresby (+2.0%) and less change in Goroka-Mt-Hagen-Madang and Alotau-Kimbe Kokopo/Rabaul
Transport Group (+ 1.8%)
The Transport Group Index increased by 1.8 percent this quarter due to increase in prices for Fuel and Lubricants (+5.7%).
Housing Group (+ 1.5%)
The Housing Group Index increased by 1.5 percent in this quarter was mainly due to the increase Rentals ( 1.7%).
