Highlights

The main contributors to the change in September Quarter 2020 are Health Group, Restaurants and Hotels Group and Clothing and Footwear Group.

Facts

The All Group CPI increased by 0.6 percent from June Quarter 2020 to September Quarter 2020.

The All Group CPI also shows an annual increase of 5.8 percent from September quarter 2019 to September quarter 2020.

Major Changes are in;

• Health Group (+12.3%)

The major contributor to the rise in Health Group Index in this quarter was mainly due to the increase in Prices for Medical Services (+25.2%).

• Restaurants and Hotels Group (+6.1%)                                

The major contributor to the rise in Restaurants and Hotels Group index this quarter was due to the increase in the prices of Takeaway Foods (+6.3).

• Clothing and Footwear Group (+2.0%)

The major contributor to the rise in Clothing and Footwear Group Index this quarter was due to the increase in prices of Men’s Wear (+3.4%) and Women and Girls Wear (+2.3%) respectively.

• Alcoholic Beverages, Tobacco and Betel Nut Group (+1.2%)

The major contributor to the rise in Alcoholic Beverages, Tobacco and Betel Nut Group Index this quarter was due to the increase in Price of Betel Nut and Mustard (+1.3%).

• Recreation Group (+1.2%)

The Recreation Group Index also showed an increase of 1.2 percent from June quarter 2020 to September quarter 2020.
