The major contributors to the increase in the March Quarter were the Education Group, Health Group, Transport Group, Recreation Group, and Food and Non-Alcoholic Beverages Group,
Highlights
The All Group CPI increased by 0.6 percent from December Quarter 2020 to March Quarter 2021.
The All-Group CPI also shows an annual increase of 4.6 percent from March quarter 2020 to March quarter 2021.
Education Group (+19.9%)
The Education Group Index increased by 19.9 percent in this quarter mainly due to the increase in Educational Fees (+26.1%).
Health Group (+5.0%)
The Health Group Index increased by 5.0 percent in this quarter was mainly due to the increase in Medical Services fees (+5.3%).
Transport Group (+2.2%)
The Transport Group Index increased by 2.2 percent this quarter due to increase in prices for
- Other Services (+10.8%) and
- Fuel and Lubricants (+9.5%).
Recreation Group (+1.4%)
The Recreation Group Index increased by 1.4 percent this quarter showing an increase in
- Goroka-Mt-Hagen-Madang (+5.0%)
- Alotau-Kimbe-Kokopo/Rabaul (+2.6%) and
- less change in Port Moresby and Lae.
Food and Non-Alcoholic Beverages Group (+1.0%)
The Food and Non-Alcoholic Beverages Group Index increased by 1.0 percent this quarter due to increase in Prices for
- Oils and Fats (+3.2%) and
- Dairy Products, Eggs, Cheese (+2.7%).
