Highlights

The headline CPI showed an increase of 2.3 percent from September quarter 2021 to December quarter 2021.

The headline CPI also showed an increase of 5.7 percent from December quarter 2020 to December quarter 2021.

The major contributors to the increase in the December Quarter were Alcoholic Beverages, Tobacco and Betel-Nut Group, Health Group,

Household Equipment Group, Housing Group and Transport Group

 

Alcoholic Beverages, Tobacco and Betelnut Group (+ 13.3%)

The Alcoholic Beverages, Tobacco and Betel-Nut Group Index increased by 13.3 percent in this quarter mainly due to the increase in prices of Betel Nut and Mustard (+ 19.4%)

Health Group (+ 1.4%)

The Health Group Index increased by 1.4 percent in this quarter mainly due to the increase in prices Medical Supplies (+2.3%)

Household Equipment Group (+ 1.2%)

The Household Equipment Group Index increased by 1.2 percent in this quarter mainly due to the increase in prices of Household Maintenance Goods (+4.3%)

Housing Group (+ 0.7%)

The Housing Group Index increased by 0.7 percent in this quarter was mainly due to the increase in Cooking( 6.9%).

Transport Group (+ 0.4%)

The Transport Group Index increased by 0.4 percent this quarter due to increase in prices for the Fuel and Lubricants(+6.1).
