This will become a very useful document nation-wide. The
CPS (Community Profile System) was developed to provide easy access to a
arrange of demographic and socio-economic indicators (most in percentage
terms). Together with a number of basic counts such as population by sex
and broad age groups. This profiles can be generated for all geographical
areas in the country, i.e. for all census units (Cus), the smallest
geographical building block in the census hierarchy, as well as wards,
Local Government areas (LLGs), districts, provinces and country itself.
In addition, CPS facilitates aggregation of geographical areas. This
feature is considered particularly useful foe data users who need to
create their own catchment areas and obtain profiles for them.

The product contains thematic maps based on the GIS technology.
This product is intended for data users who have access to GIS software.
It consists of maps (in MapInfo 6.0 format) and statistical indicators for
the geographic levels in Papua New Guinea. These layers and databases
allow users to create thematic maps based on data from the PNG 2000
Census.
This application consists of a country map and maps for each of the 20
provinces. The maps have polygon layers for the country, provinces,
districts and LLGs. Furthermore, information on Census Units, schools,
health clinics, routes and rivers is included. A large database with some
100 different demographic and socio-economic indicators forms the main
thrust of the application. |
